Is there a google group?

So when I lived in Champaign-Urbana there was a google group of  similar interest riders who used the list to set up impromptu rides.  Is something like that already in existence for Hartford area Beat Blog-type riders?

Just thinking it would have been nice to toss out a couple of my recent rides as an opportunity to a larger audience.  For example,  I'd like to ride to Boston and back over a long weekend.  Anyone want in on that?

I think everyone just uses Twitter now as their social planner.

Is twitter suitable for impromptu ride planning?

Twitter isn't suitable for anything. It's like chucking notes at each other in study hall.

I've seen people plan rides on crankfire, but that's only mountain biking and limited.

Rides initiated by the beat bike blog seem to garner about a dozen people.

You could start a google group. I wonder how it would do.

Just created a Google group. beat-bike-blog-rides@googlegroups.com

Let's see if it gets traction.
