So, the 5K at Keney was too hard to execute during the budget season, so it's been reimagined into a car-free day at Keney from 10 to 2. Yay!.
Also, CT-NEMBA is sponsoring a trail work day at Riverside Park on June 6 ahead of the cyclocross race. Way ahead of the cyclocross race.

Well, what do you expect? National trails day is a perfect venue to work on the trails for the future race. Don't forget your bike!
Hey! That wasn't meant to diminish it.
Barring anything weird, I'm going to be there, heck I'll even lead a ride along some other river trails afterwards if anyone is interested.
My only fear is that flooding will undo what we do.
There is always that risk but at least we will get an idea for the condition of the trails, map them out, and take care of any major obstacles. I am sure before the cross race we'll need to revisit the place anyway.
On the subject of Riverside Park and said trails... is there a way to get from downtown to the Bissell Bridge bike path via Riverside Park with minimal travel on roads? A friend and I were thinking of doing a lunchtime ride and want to avoid roads if possible.
Anonymous: Actually, it's pretty easy, but I recommend a bike with beefy tires.
Coming off the Bissell Bridge, try this (hope the link works).
and mortenson plaza to charter oak landing? in between. anybody tried to connect between those before?
go down to the river, ride north on the paved stuff until it turns right under 91. go straight on the gravel. keep going until you're at charter oak.
