The other critical mass

I had a meeting at the Park House by Keney Park this morning. I was returning to work and saw a big group of bicycle riders behind the library on Prospect Street. My first thought was, "critical mass on a Tuesday morning? That's weird." Then, I noticed they were all cops. It appeared they were training or something like that. I bet they don't get any of the shit that other group rides get. I snapped a couple of pictures of this sight, but they didn't come out that great:

I followed them up to State House Square where they were debriefing.

I think I sold one of them a pair of bike shorts this afternoon. Went for the 8 panel, good choice.

Eight multicolored panels, I hope.

Just saw a Hartford cop driving down Farmington Ave with a bike on their rear-mount bike rack. Unfortunately they only hung the frame from one of the rack's arms so the rear tire was dragging on the ground as they sped down the road at 40mph. Tax money well spent.

It would be clutch if we had multi-colored 8 panel shorts, simply clutch.

Do WH cops have the nice Vanilla RL forks like Hartford cops?

Not sure, regardless it was a Hartford cop that I saw. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen a West Hartford bike cop.

WH has a few. They pedal around the center some times and I've seen them a bit in the immediately surrounding neighborhoods.

I think cops should get 'cross bikes, though it might force them to get better bike handling skills. You can't just bash through curbs and stuff like you do with a mountain bike.
